In Western astrology, Rahu - the North lunar node - symbolizes the tasks of the current incarnation. In Vedic astrology, Rahu is one of the navagrah (nine celestial bodies).
A ghostly, shadowy planet that personifies everything artificial, including artificial light. Rahu represents of deception and illusion, is associated with hypocrisy, immoral acts, as well as with people greedy for material goods and carnal pleasures.

In Hinduism, Rahu is a demon whose head has become immortal and is called the Dragon's Head, which sometimes swallows the Sun or the Moon out of revenge, thereby causing eclipses.
In Vedic astrology, the dispositor of Rahu is called the control planet of expansion. Where he is, there is a zone where the owner of the natal chart should spread his energy in this incarnation (positive or negative, destructive or creative - depends on the previous karma and evolutionary level).
